✨ What to Expect
Before Your First Visit
There’s nothing special you need to do to prepare, but it’s a good idea to:
• Eat a light meal or snack beforehand (don’t come in on an empty stomach)
• Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing if possible
• Avoid caffeine right before your session, as it can make it harder to relax during treatment
Your First Visit
Your initial appointment includes a detailed intake and treatment. We’ll review your health history, current concerns, and overall wellness goals. I’ll also assess your pulse and tongue to help identify underlying patterns that may be contributing to what you’re experiencing.
The first session typically lasts 75–90 minutes. After the intake, you’ll receive a full acupuncture treatment, and if needed, I may incorporate other techniques such as cupping, Gua Sha, or gentle bodywork.
During Your Session
Each session begins with a focused discussion about your current state of health and any changes since your last visit.
Depending on your presentation, your session may include acupuncture, cupping, Gua Sha, moxibustion, herbal medicine, or hands-on techniques such as Tui Na, Zero Balancing, or Craniosacral Therapy to calm the nervous system and release tension.
You’ll rest quietly during treatment, often under a blanket. Many patients describe feeling deeply relaxed or falling into a light, meditative rest.
Follow-Up Sessions
Follow-up visits are generally 60 minutes and focus on building progress over time. Each session is adjusted based on how your body responds and what you need that day. Some people come weekly for a period of time, while others come seasonally or as maintenance care once they’re feeling stable.
Your comfort is always a priority. Treatments are designed to help your body shift toward balance in a calm, steady way.
What to Wear
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows access to areas below the elbows and knees. Most points used are on the arms, legs, and abdomen.
After Your Session
Most people leave feeling relaxed, grounded, and sometimes a little floaty—that’s completely normal. Give yourself a little time to ease back into your day.
Some helpful tips:
• Stay hydrated
• Try not to schedule anything too demanding right after your visit
• Notice how you feel over the next few days; acupuncture often has a cumulative effect
Does it hurt?
Most people are surprised by how gentle acupuncture feels. The needles are extremely thin, and you might notice a light tingling, warmth, or a gentle heaviness where the needle is placed. Many patients find the experience deeply relaxing.
